Carina Young, MS

Education: Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University; currently working towards LPC

Areas of experience/specialty: Working with adolescents, young adults, and adults; Trauma, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem.

Approach to counseling: “I provide a more holistic approach that includes the body, mind, and spirit. Going off of research that trauma is often stored within the body, I tend to work from a bottom up perspective with the use of Somatic Experiencing Therapy techniques. This works to identify emotions within the body, teaches the client skills to calm the body and self-soothe, then work towards addressing thoughts and behaviors with the use of CBT and DBT interventions.  I emphasize awareness and mindfulness to increase the ability to be present and act/react intentionally. I provide psychoeducation to keep the client informed on the reasonings behind all of the work while also incorporating humor within my sessions.”
